MBS Urban Initiatives Supports Findlay Market Healthy Food Hub to Expand Healthy Food Access and Economic Opportunity

LOUIS, MO, UNITED STATES, August 12, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- MBS Urban Initiatives CDE (MBS UI), the Community Development Entity affiliate of McCormack Baron Salazar, is proud to support the Findlay Market Healthy Food Hub in Cincinnati, Ohio, through a New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) investment that will strengthen food access, workforce development, and neighborhood revitalization in the city's historic Over-the-Rhine neighborhood.

The $12.6 million project will renovate 24,700 square feet across two historic buildings located at 132 W. Elder Street and 1720 Race Street, creating a centralized hub for food distribution, community programming, vendor support, and market operations. Developed by Model Group in partnership with the Corporation for Findlay Market (CFFM), the project builds on previous investments by McCormack Baron Salazar in the surrounding neighborhood.

The Healthy Food Hub will significantly expand Findlay Market's capacity to serve residents by increasing access to fresh, locally grown, and healthy foods in a low-income community. The project will enhance food distribution to more than 1,800 low-income residents participating in SNAP and Produce Perks programs while supporting the market's 1.4 million annual visitors.

In addition to expanding healthy food access, the project will support 49 permanent jobs, including new positions created and existing jobs retained. Workforce development is a key component of the initiative, offering employees training in financial literacy, project management, facility maintenance, skilled trades, CPR certification, computer skills, and the Certified Tourism Ambassador Program. CFFM also provides a structured career pathway that enables employees to advance into leadership roles or leverage their skills for future career opportunities.

The renovated facility will also include community meeting and event space, vendor storage, maintenance operations, and office space to support entrepreneurs, small businesses, and nonprofit programming that benefits the broader community.
