Wayne County and United Way to Host Career and Community Engagement Fair
Wayne County Government and United Way of Wayne County will host a Career and Community Engagement Fair on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Goldsboro Event Center, located at 1501 S. Slocumb Street in Goldsboro.
This event brings career opportunities and community involvement together in one location. Attendees can learn about employment opportunities while meeting local nonprofit organizations that offer volunteer opportunities and services throughout the community.
“This event is an opportunity for residents to explore careers in public service plus discover other meaningful ways to make a difference in Wayne County,” said Nakesha Newkirk, Wayne County Human Resources. “If you are looking for a new career, a place to volunteer, or just want to learn more about local organizations, we have something for you.”
Participating organizations include Wayne County Government, United Way of Wayne County, 3HC/Kitty Askins, 4 Day Movement, American Red Cross Eastern North Carolina, Communities Supporting Schools, Cry Freedom Missions, Goldsboro YMCA, Habitat for Humanity Goldsboro-Wayne, Partnership for Children, Rones Chapel Area Community Center, The Society of St. Vincent de Paul, The Salvation Army, UNC Health Wayne, WAGES, and others.
“Strong communities are built when people connect with opportunities to serve and support one another,” said Sherry Archibald, Executive Director of United Way of Wayne County. “We are excited for this event and to help residents learn how they can get more involved in our community.”
