LOS ANGELES, CA, UNITED STATES, October 8, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Build LA: Construction, Transportation & Community Workforce Pipeline Expo, a workforce development event funded by LA Jobs First, will take place Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Normandie Church of Christ, 6306 Normandie Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90044.

Build LA is designed to connect Los Angeles residents directly with employers, unions, apprenticeship programs, workforce training providers, and community organizations offering pathways into construction, transportation, infrastructure, public service, and other career opportunities.

More than a traditional job fair, Build LA is focused on creating a community workforce pipeline that helps participants move from career interest to interviews, training, apprenticeships, and employment.

Funding from LA Jobs First supports the effort to increase access to workforce opportunities and help local residents prepare for careers connected to Los Angeles' growing construction, transportation and infrastructure sectors.

The event welcomes participants at different stages of workforce readiness. Some attendees may already have certifications and be prepared to speak with employers. Others may be seeking apprenticeship opportunities, industry credentials, additional training or supportive services before entering the workforce.

Participants will have opportunities to learn about careers and resources connected to construction, transportation, Metro, Caltrans, fire service, organized labor, workforce development, apprenticeship programs, and employment training.

Attendees can receive information about how to enter the skilled trades, qualify for apprenticeship programs, obtain necessary certifications, connect with employers and access services that may help overcome barriers to employment.

“Build LA is about connecting people to a real pathway, not simply handing them information,” said Linda Kelly, Executive Director of Fathers and Mothers Who Care (FMWC). “There are people throughout Los Angeles who are ready to work, while others need training, guidance, certifications, or the right introduction. We want people to come to Build LA wherever they are in their employment journey and leave knowing what their next step is.”

Kelly added, “The support of LA Jobs First helps us bring workforce opportunities directly into the community. As Los Angeles continues to invest in construction, transportation and infrastructure, the people who live in our communities should have meaningful opportunities to train for, compete for and secure those jobs.”

Build LA also aims to make the workforce system easier to navigate by bringing employers, unions, training organizations, educational partners and support providers together in one location.

Participants who are not yet job-ready may be connected to training. Those interested in skilled trades can learn about apprenticeship requirements. Qualified candidates can make employment connections, while individuals facing barriers can learn about supportive resources available to help them enter and remain in the workforce.

The overall goal is to help Los Angeles residents move toward sustainable employment, career advancement and long-term economic mobility.
