Statistics Canada's latest labour force numbers show that the labour market in Saskatchewan remains strong, with 5,900 jobs year-over-year in October. Saskatchewan's unemployment rate is the third lowest amongst provinces at 5.9 per cent, well below the national average of 6.7 per cent.
"Recently released labour force numbers from Statistics Canada show that Saskatchewan's labour market remains strong, thanks to our strong, steady economy," Immigration and Career Training Minister Eric Schmalz said. "As Saskatchewan continues to attract record investment to build our economy, our government is investing in training and development programs to help prepare our workforce for further opportunities ahead."

Saskatchewan continues to show economic growth in other areas. Statistics Canada's latest real GDP data shows the province's economy increased by 3.1 per cent last year, outpacing the national average of 1.9 per cent. In August 2026, the value of manufacturing sales in Saskatchewan had the third highest year-over-year growth among provinces at 32.2 per cent, compared to the national increase of 14.2 per cent.
This economic growth is backed by the Government of Saskatchewan's Building the Workforce for a Growing Economy: The Saskatchewan Labour Market Strategy, a roadmap to build the workforce needed to support Saskatchewan's strong and growing economy, and Securing the Next Decade of Growth: Saskatchewan's Investment Attraction Strategy, a plan to increase investment in the province and to further advancing Saskatchewan's Growth plan goal of $16 billion in private capital investment annually.
